Kettle Valley Rail Trail

Weaving its way from the Kootenays to the Okanagan and onto the Fraser Valley, the Kettle Valley Rail Trail is a 600-kilometer route along an abandoned railway bed. It offers the best views of Okanagan Valley as it takes you by vineyards, orchards, forests, and lakes. The 600-kilometer trail offers multi-use paths, so you can choose which areas you want to venture to as there are endless options. Some of the most popular routes include the ride from Myra Canyon and back, as well as from Penticton to Chute Lake.

The Golden Triangle

If you’re feeling particularly ambitious, consider the Golden Triangle. The massive bike trail spans 330 kilometers of Western Canada. It’s designed for seasoned cyclists so casual riders may want to think twice before taking this one on. The trail is named for its shape, which forms a triangle with Lake Louise, Golden, and Radium Hot Springs as its points. This route passes through the heart of the Canadian Rockies with views that you must see to believe. Along the way, you’ll see the Rocky Mountains and a variety of wildlife – including a wolf sanctuary.

Meewasin Valley Trail

If you’re looking for a ride in the prairies, the Meewasin Trail will take you along the South Saskatchewan River. It’s one of the most popular trails in Saskatoon for runners and cyclists alike. It offers beautiful river views and a combination of paved and unpaved paths. It’s the perfect mix of urban and valley, as it’s located in the heart of the city. Whether you want a peaceful ride alone or with the family, this trail is an amazing option.

Reeve’s Ravine Trail

In Riding Mountain National Park, a three-hour drive northwest of Winnipeg, lies the ever-popular Reeve’s Ravine Trail. This flowy, single-track mountain bike trail along the ravine’s edge is one of the best ways to get up close and personal with the Manitoba escarpment. There are three moderate mountain biking trails to experience (about 2.5 kilometers each). If you want, you can do the full seven-kilometer trail, taking in some of the best views in the entire park.

Niagara River Recreational Trail

If you’re looking for a getaway filled with activities along the way, here it is. The Niagara River Recreation Trail was built in 1986 as a path for non-motorized traffic. It runs parallel to the Niagara River, from Fort Erie to Fort George. It is a 56-kilometer trail that will take you by wineries, restaurants, shops, and historical sites and not to mention the most stunning natural views.

Great Lakes Waterfront Trail

In Central Canada, cycling enthusiasts will find one of the best bike trails in Ontario with the Great Lakes Waterfront Trail. It was created to honor the world's largest group of freshwater lakes. Now, it’s a popular destination for cyclists and outdoor enthusiasts and helps to preserve and protect the lakes.

It’s a great option for cyclists seeking a multi-day adventure, or just a short-day trip to enjoy the outdoors. With many route options that are under 30 kilometers, you can plan a day trip for the entire family. For some off-road trails for casual cyclists, go on a relaxing port-to-port bike ride from Port Weller to Port Dalhousie, which is only 10 kilometers in one direction.

Route Verte

Known as one of Canada’s greatest cycling trails, this 5,300-km path can’t be beat. It’s a cycling network that links all the regions of Quebec. This route offers everything from lakes, mountains, national parks, and villages, as well as off and on route options for those looking to switch it up. It’s an activity-filled trip that would be a great option for families. A popular section of this long bike trail is called the Blueberry Route and it takes you in a loop around Lac Saint-Jean for 256 kilometers, which typically takes three to four days to complete.

Confederation Trail

If you’re looking for a relatively flat biking route, then the Confederation Trail on PEI might be the perfect cycling adventure. The Confederation Trail was built over abandoned railway beds. It takes you through so much of the province – including dunes, woodlands, and coastlines. While the most popular route is only 35 kilometers, if you include all the biking routes, there are over 435 kilometers in the network.

Viking Trail

If you’re up for a challenge, this 489-kilometer route takes you along the rugged coast of Newfoundland and Labrador. It starts at Deer Lake and passes through the Gros Morne National Park and continues to the northern tip of Newfoundland to L’Anse aux Meadows National Historic Site. The ride should take 7 to 10 days through several quaint fishing villages. Plus, you’ll be impressed with views of icebergs and possibly even whales along the way.
